Ourย Study Rooms are located on all three levels of the Library and are available for small groups on a first come, first served basis for free. Please see a Librarian for access to the Group Study and Video Conference Rooms.
Group Study Room Policies
- Use of these rooms is on a first come-first served basis.
- Groups must have at least two (2) members present to request the use of an available room.
- Maximum capacity is four (4) people.
- These rooms are restricted to the use of groups of two (2) or more. Two (2) people must be present in the room at all times. After 15 minutes a room with fewer than 2 persons present will be considered available for reassignment.
- The Library does not provide individual study rooms.
- No food is permitted.
- A vacated room will be considered abandoned after 15 minutes.ย Any personal items left unattended in the room will be removed to lost and found.
- Group Study Rooms may not be used for private social functions such as showers, birthday parties, etc. Programs involving the sale, advertisement or promotion of commercial products; have admission fees or are fund raising, are prohibited.
- Violation of these policies can result in removal from Library premises.
Video Conference Room Policies
- The rooms are for individuals doing video conference or telephone conference calls for business, educational and health purposes. Examples include job interviews, business meetings, school projects and telehealth appointments.
- They are not to be used for personal phone calls or as individual study rooms.
- You may reserve a room at the 3rd floor Reference Desk or by calling 248-796-4280. Walk-ins are welcome to sign up at the desk.
- A room may be reserved for up to 2 hours per day. The room must be vacated when your reservation expires.
- Your reservation will be cancelled if you are more than 15 minutes late.
- You must bring your own Wi-Fi enabled device and be ย comfortable using it.
- The rooms are not soundproof and voices must be kept at a normal level.
- Violation of these policies can result in removal from Library premises.
Meeting Room / Auditorium Rentals
The Southfield Public Libraryโs Meeting Room and Auditorium are not available for rental. Groups looking for rooms to rent may contact the City of Southfieldโs Parks and Recreation Department atย (248) 796-4620 or on the Parks and Recreation Department’s website.ย
