Friends of the Southfield Public Library

The Friends of the Southfield Public Library are a dynamic and involved group of Library supporters who truly enhance the services the Library is able to provide.ย The Friends purchase items not provided for in the Library’s budget, provide seed money for new services and collections, and actively promote the use of the Library to the community.ย 

Enjoy gently used books and more all at affordable prices. We sell books, magazines, and audio-visual materials.ย 

The Bookshelf is located on the main floor, off the Lobbyโ€“ see ourย Calendarย for when weโ€™re open.

Friends Members receive a 10% discount on BookShelf purchases!

Your donations keep our book sales successful! Please see our Donation Guide for details on what materials we accept.

Take donations to the loading dock on the north side of the Library from 1 p.m. โ€“ 4 p.m. Monday โ€“ Thursday. If youโ€™d like to make an appointment, please call 248-796-4397. Limit to 4 boxes or bags per day.

The Friends sponsor various Library programs and special events, such as the Jazz & Blues @ Your Library series and many more. Check the Calendar for upcoming performances!

JOIN THE FRIENDS
As a member of the Friends, you become part of a group improving our Library services each and every day. You will receive invitations to special programs, a tax deduction, discounts in the Friends Book Cellar and Jazz & Blues concerts and a chance to offer your expertise and talents to your Library.

The Friends Board meets on the 3rd or 4th Wednesday of each month at 3 pm. Meetings are held in the Southfield Room, on the 3rd Floor of the Library.ย Call (248) 796-4397 for more information on how you can become a Friend of the Library!

The donation of funds to theย Southfield Public Library Gift Book Programย is a lasting contribution:

  • In appreciation of someone special
  • In memory of a loved one
  • In honor of a special occasion (birth, birthday, bar mitzvah, confirmation, graduation, wedding, anniversary, etc.)
  • In recognition of a notable achievement
  • To build a specific collection (business, art, picture books, large print, etc.)

Contributions to the Gift Book Program through the Friends can be made by individuals, businesses or groups. All donations are acknowledged. For donations of $25 or more, a bookplate is placed inside each gift book to convey the significance of your gift. All contributions are tax deductible. Plates can be placed in books and movies. Please make checks payable to theย Friends of the Southfield Public Library.

Please designate (1) the amount of your contribution, (2) who or what event it honors, (3) suggested subjects or materials that best represent the occasion, (4) a person and address to send an acknowledgement to, and (5) your name and address. Please send this information to:
