How do you get your book on the shelves of the Southfield Public Library?
To donate your book to the Library:
The Library has a strict collection development policy that must be followed for a book to be added to the general collection. You, the author, must provide professional reviews of your book. These can include local newspaper and magazine reviews; however, Amazon reviews are not sufficient. A donated book cannot be returned if it does not meet our collection development criteria. It will be given to The Friends of the Library to be sold in their book sale.
To add your book to the Local Authors Collection:
If you are a Southfield or Lathrup Village resident, you may donate a copy to the Library. It will be added to the Southfield Authors Collection, in the Southfield History Room. These books do not circulate but can be read in the Library.
To sell your book to the Library:
You must provide us with professional reviews of your book. Additionally, the book must be available for purchase through The Book Beat bookstore in Oak Park, Michigan or through Ingram Content Group, a library materials distributor.
To have a book signing or program at the Library:
As part of our programs for the community we do host author talks and signings. We plan out our programs 4 – 6 months in advance. Please submit your program suggestion to Kelly Rembert at email@example.com. Please note that we are only able to host a small portion of interested authors.
