Jazz & Blues @ Your Library: Blues Notes, the Music of Jazz Guitarist Kenny Burrell
June 20 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
This will be a show dedicated to the hard swinging, blues infused sounds of legendary jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell. Burrell got his start in the early 1950’s as a sideman for the likes of Oscar Peterson, Tony Bennett and Benny Goodman. Kenny Burrell uniquely created harmonically complex lines with a touch of soulful blues and at 86 years of age remains active in the music world as a professor and Director of Jazz Studies at UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music.
Detroit Social Club’s tribute to Kenny Burrell, a mix of Jazz and Blues, will include arrangements of some of his classic tunes and in some cases feature accompanying vocals and aural soundscapes.
