African American Read-In
February 23 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
In celebration of Black History Month, the Southfield Public Library is inviting the public of all ages to take part in African American Read-In to explore books by African American authors. The African American Read-In was started in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English. The event spotlights the literary contributions made by African American writers and ensures that literacy is a major focus of Black History month.
Participants are invited to come listen and, if they wish, read aloud to the group. Not sure what you’d like to read? Books will be available for suggested reading including fiction, picture books, young adult fiction, plays, non-fiction and poetry. Readers will be limited to five minutes or less.
Saturday, February 23rd from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. n the Meeting Room.
